[Whenever Nephry gets back to Regal's house, she might notice that the door to one of the rooms has been left open. And if she looks inside, she might spy a certain someone chilling on a bed, sewing up some new tears that her doll is suffering from.]

[It's the voice, more than anything, that makes her stop. She's been out all day and she's tired but Lorelei if she's hearing things now she's going to just throw in the towel.

Normally, courtesy would demand she knock. But the door's already open and the look on her face when she sees it's Anise in there is indescribable]

I'm glad too! I'm sorry it took so long - I was um, just above one of the tunnels [you probably know the one, Nephry.] when the earthquake happened, so I got stuck down there, and I didn't have my journal...

If Guy didn't find me, I dunno what would've happened... [A sigh.]

I heard that our house was trashed, though! Are you okay? Guy said you'd be okay by now, but... [-and Anise finally registers that Nephry's actually wiping her eyes about now. ... She's never seen her cry before.]

Ah-! P-please don't cry, Nephry...!

[She knows what would've happened. It's why she's still crying, and can't seem to stop just yet.]

No, I...I'm fine now. Dist and Professor Nebilim and... [nope, sorry, that's all she's got. But Anise doesn't seem to like her crying, so she turns away a little to try to calm herself down.]

[It's some time later, after Nephry's talked to every, and even after she has spoken to Anise - which Dist was secretly so relieved to see, though he wasn't as worried about her as Nephry - that Dist knocks softly on her door before speaking.]

Nephry? May I come inside?

Of course, Saphir. [In fact, it's quite the warm welcome. It was a long and tiring day so she's already in bed, but has been keeping quietly busy with a book, as it's a bit too early to sleep yet.]

[Dist pushes the door open, and though he tries to hide it, there's still a bit of unmasked concern present on his face as he steps inside.]

Thank you... [He fidgets a bit, pausing to gather a few words.] A-Are you all right, Nephry? I know the Professor healed you, and I would never doubt her skill! B-But I...it--can you move your legs at all?

[Her smile spreads, warmer and more amused now.]

Yes, I can. I've been out in the village all day. ...There are still some things I can't remember, but that hardly stops me from helping.

Nephry, you shouldn't move so quickly after you've been healed! I'm glad you're all right, and I understand your concern for others, but please think of your own health!

[He pauses, rubbing his temple. Really, Nephry, he hates scolding you, and he knows you're a big girl, but come on.] Just rest today, to put my mind at ease.

Really, Saphir, do you think I would take my own health so lightly? I've spent the better part of the day sitting down. Besides, the day is almost over, and...if you'd bring me my bag, please?

[That is not a pout that just formed on his face. You are a liar. But Dist does indeed get Nephry's bag and hands it to her with a sigh.]

I should hope not. I may not be a true doctor, but please listen to me when I say you need to truly recover your strength. That injury to the head you sustained wasn't as bad as it could have been, but... [He rubs his face and sweeps his hair out of his face, looking tired.] I'm just concerned, Nephry. This place is cruel, and I'm not as strong as most of the others here...

[She is not a liar. What reason would she have at this point to lie to him? Anyone who lives in building six, or Albert, would be able to confirm that for him. When he hands her the bag, she reaches out and catches his wrist, making sure he's looking at her while she speaks]

Listen to me, Saphir. [Her eyes are serious, but not angry or bothered. Just calm.] I may not remember everything, but I know what you did for me. I can say with certainty that I would not be alive if you hadn't been there with me, and finding some way to thank you for that feels impossible. I wouldn't think of treating such a gift as though it were less than priceless.

[Now her face does darken, but only because she's still struggling to remember all that happened on the day of the quake - before and after.]

[It definitely takes Dist by surprise when his wrist is suddenly in Nephry's grip, and he gives it a startled glance, before setting Nephry with a curious one.]

Nephry? [But he shuts it once he's instructed to.]

[He listens, and feels something tighten deep in his chest once Nephry's finished. The silence that passes for long moment is thick and heavy as Dist digests her words. Breathing heavily, Dist pulls his wrist from his friend's grip to turns away and cover his face and not-so-subtly wipe at his eyes.

When he speaks, it's hushed and like a bit of a croak. No one's ever said something like that to him. Ever.]
