Would those who are staying temporarily in building six please respond here? It will help us keep a more accurate list of residents. Those who are staying together may designate one person to provide multiple names, if necessary. Anyone who had been living in building six prior to the earthquake should also reply, if possible. [Dist pushes the door open, and though he tries to hide it, there's still a bit of unmasked concern present on his face as he steps inside.]

Thank you... [He fidgets a bit, pausing to gather a few words.] A-Are you all right, Nephry? I know the Professor healed you, and I would never doubt her skill! B-But I...it--can you move your legs at all?

[Her smile spreads, warmer and more amused now.]

Yes, I can. I've been out in the village all day. ...There are still some things I can't remember, but that hardly stops me from helping.

[And where Nephry's face brightens, Dist's darkens.]

Nephry, you shouldn't move so quickly after you've been healed! I'm glad you're all right, and I understand your concern for others, but please think of your own health!

[He pauses, rubbing his temple. Really, Nephry, he hates scolding you, and he knows you're a big girl, but come on.] Just rest today, to put my mind at ease.

[But her smile doesn't fade.]

Really, Saphir, do you think I would take my own health so lightly? I've spent the better part of the day sitting down. Besides, the day is almost over, and...if you'd bring me my bag, please?

[She nods to the bag resting against the wall by the door.]

[That is not a pout that just formed on his face. You are a liar. But Dist does indeed get Nephry's bag and hands it to her with a sigh.]

I should hope not. I may not be a true doctor, but please listen to me when I say you need to truly recover your strength. That injury to the head you sustained wasn't as bad as it could have been, but... [He rubs his face and sweeps his hair out of his face, looking tired.] I'm just concerned, Nephry. This place is cruel, and I'm not as strong as most of the others here...

[She is not a liar. What reason would she have at this point to lie to him? Anyone who lives in building six, or Albert, would be able to confirm that for him. When he hands her the bag, she reaches out and catches his wrist, making sure he's looking at her while she speaks]

Listen to me, Saphir. [Her eyes are serious, but not angry or bothered. Just calm.] I may not remember everything, but I know what you did for me. I can say with certainty that I would not be alive if you hadn't been there with me, and finding some way to thank you for that feels impossible. I wouldn't think of treating such a gift as though it were less than priceless.

[Now her face does darken, but only because she's still struggling to remember all that happened on the day of the quake - before and after.]

You are more than strong enough.

[It definitely takes Dist by surprise when his wrist is suddenly in Nephry's grip, and he gives it a startled glance, before setting Nephry with a curious one.]

Nephry? [But he shuts it once he's instructed to.]

[He listens, and feels something tighten deep in his chest once Nephry's finished. The silence that passes for long moment is thick and heavy as Dist digests her words. Breathing heavily, Dist pulls his wrist from his friend's grip to turns away and cover his face and not-so-subtly wipe at his eyes.

When he speaks, it's hushed and like a bit of a croak. No one's ever said something like that to him. Ever.]

I--...thank you.

You don't need to thank me for the truth.

[And she'll rummage in the bag, and spread out on the bed in front of her a few of his tools, and one or two of the things he was working on before the house went.]

Alone, this is all I could find. I was hoping you'd join me tomorrow in searching for anything else salvageable.

[Those words mean a lot, Nephry, really. Dist turns his face away as his lips curl up in a warm smile. Not a sneer, smirk, or a grin. A honest and genuine smile. Though as quickly as it appears, it fades in favor of a curious look as he inspects the objects. Just a few things, and his research on the nature of this place was gone, but he could restore it easily, or work anew.]

You didn't have to bother with these, Nephry. But of course. If anything is worth saving, then I'd be glad to assist.

[It's good to see him smile again. He hasn't, in so long...]

[Dist takes some of the items. Hopefully he could occupy himself with repairing these for a while. He holds up a hand to her thanks, though the corner of his mouth curls up a little bit before he speaks.]

Until then, you should rest. Can I get you anything?

The pleasure of your company for a while would be nice, if you're not busy.

[They're rationing food and there are people who need it more than she does. Asking for it feels out of the question.]

[Dist could care less about Regal's appetite, to be honest. That man looked like he could eat the house, and Dist was used to skipping meals, so it wouldn't have bothered him.]

I-I don't mind at all, but...I'm not very good company, Nephry. And don't let me hinder you from recovering completely!

[It would have bothered her to think she was eating food that would benefit someone in worse condition.]

Don't be ridiculous. When has spending time with friends ever hindered anything?

[Dist sighed, then moved to sit on the edge of her bed.] You're as stubborn as Jade is sometimes, Nephry. But all right, I'll stay. What would you like to discuss? I heard you speaking with Anise earlier, is she all right? Where was she?

[No, she's often more stubborn than Jade. She just hides it behind better words and kindness.]

She was in a different section of tunnel. Guy found her. She injured her ankle, but I didn't ask how badly.

[Like brother, like sister. Thank god she's the nice one, though. Dist blinks and tilts his head up a little.]

I see... Guy is that young man with the blond hair, correct?

Yes. He works in Good Spirits. ...I believe you've fought him once or twice.

[Ah, those are rather painful memories. Both literally and figuratively. Dist clears his throat, trying not to recalling his crushing defeats.]

The bar? Is he there frequently? I...need to have a word with him sometime. [You know, to actually try and thank him for his help not only with Nephry, but in locating their other, tinier housemate.]

I believe he's there every day. If not, you could always use a journal to get in touch with him. You're welcome to borrow mine, if we can't find yours.

I see. Thank you, Nephry, and that won't be necessary. I'm sure once this mess is sorted out by those imbeciles, it'll return eventually. You needn't trouble yourself, but I appreciate the sentiments regardless.

[He'll just have to man up and talk to Guy face to face. Ugh. N-Never said it had to be right away...r-right?]

Yes, I've recently learned that. ...He shows promise. [And that's the best compliment one of Jade's cohorts will possibly ever get from Dist.] Nothing like my brilliant self, of course, but less brainless than others I've encountered...
