I'm going to be out of the house for a while. I should be back before it gets too late.

[Nephry set out rather early this morning, actually, headed for the small lake. She's spent a good amount of time being sure that what she's doing is safe and isn't going to result in anything unpleasant. After she's sure of all that, and checks to see if anyone's nearby, she leaves the journal on a cleared spot near the edge of the lake and, slowly at first because it's been a while, heads away on a pair of ice skates]

[we'll just see if that continues. Anise seems to be doing all right, Nephry will skate off a bit on her own now]

[She's skating in a slow, steady, mostly-straight line. She'll be attempting to go in a circle, next, but it's kind of unsteady.]

[Trying to do smoother curves now. She teeters dangerously over to one side, like she's about to take another spill, but she manages to catch herself.]

W-woah!

[turns to look over her shoulder, but Anise is still on her feet. So she smiles quickly before turning back around]

[Okay, again! She'll try that curve again, and manage a neater one before she overreaches herself and ends up slipping. It's not as bad a fall as it could be, but she's on the ice anyway.]

[She's getting up almost immediately, though, and she's got her gameface on. Ice, she will conquer you!!]

[Nephry laughs softly, low enough that Anise won't be able to hear her. Once she's sure the girl's total focus is on the ice, she'll stop skating, stand still, and just watch]

[All riiiight! She starts off a little slow, before speeding up just a little so she skates in a nice, big curve that ends just a couple feet away from Nephry.]

[She looks up as she stops.]

Ha! Did you see that~? I did it!

Yes, I did. That was very good.

[She was likely about to do something that would end in that. But she'll just settle for a grin.]

[and she takes off pretty fast, headed for the other side of the lake]

[skating fast? She can maybe do that! She'll be picking up the pace and going to catch up with you, Nephry. That gameface is back on.]

[slows down a little as they near the edge of the lake, taking note of Anise's expression]

But I wanted to race you!

You did? [another smile, but it's more of a grin this time] I didn't want us to run into the bank, that's all. We can race, if you'd like, and you're sure.

Well, I know I want to, but if you don't wanna, I guess that's okay...

I'd be happy to. It's no problem. [she doesn't rise to that kind of bait, but she does sound perfectly okay with indulging Anise in a race]

Okay, how about from here to that tree over on that side of the lake? [It's not all that far, Anise wouldn't have too much trouble skating that distance.]

All right, that seems reasonable. [backs herself up to this edge of the lake to start]

[smiles and starts off a little more slowly, but though Anise probably has her beat in terms of raw energy, Nephry almost certainly has a longer glide at this point. She should catch her after a few seconds]
