[The Malnosso have decided to leave Nephry off in the forest northwest of House 1. The chances of anyone finding her there are slim, you see, unless they're out on patrol or know to be looking. And it's cold, and snowy - quite snowy - and she's been drugged beyond real coherence. The journal, though, is close enough to her for her to touch, and open. Anyone listening will here a few sharp coughs followed by what she must think is an understandable sentence. Except it's not.]

[between Rena's and Peony's efforts, she's starting to warm up. That doesn't help with the drugged beyond belief situation, though. The symptoms of freezing and of the experimentation just happen to be the same. Now that she knows there are two people there who know where she is and can do something about it, she might start drifting out of consciousness]

[Rena glances back over to Nephry before nodding.]

Is it nearby?

Yes. Less than an hour from here.

[He gently lifts Nephry up from the ground, carrying her in his arms.]

[she says something else. He may have been able to pick out his name, among a few other easier words. Despite all they've done to warm her she is still shivering uncontrollably]

[She glances back at Nephry before nodding again.]

...Okay.

[And she'll start following whenever Peony begins his trek to his house. Because despite the familiarity, she still doesn't really know him and wants to make sure Nephry's going to be okay during the walk back.]

[As he walks briskly back to House 1, Peony holds Nephry tighter against himself in an attempt to stop her shivering. He turns to Rena.]

Can you do me a favor and contact Professor Nebilim? She's a healer.

[just continue until you get to the house. Nephry won't be doing anything. Really]

[They make it to the house soon enough, and while Rena is busy contacting the Professor, Peony takes Nephry to her room. He needs to get her to stop shivering.]

[she still hasn't stopped. Perhaps subconsciously, one of her hands reaches for Peony, and if it manages to touch his, he'll feel that it's ice cold. She probably can't feel anything in her hands, actually]

[There is a short pause before he starts peeling off her wet clothes. Luckily, he finds a set of pajamas in her drawer, and he carefully dries her off before putting it on her. Peony takes the hand that is reaching out for him, feeling how cold it is. He covers her hand with both of his in a desperate attempt to warm it.]

[there are some things she is better off unconscious for, and that's probably one of them. But she really is warming up, and she opens her eyes again to try to see what's going on. Still unable to really see or move, she tries to say something again]

...ony?

[He looks up immediately when he hears her try and speak his name. Peony brushes the damp hair from her eyes, letting his hand rest on the side of her face.]

Yes?

[she starts to tell him she's cold, with that same urgency she had before; the word is replaced with a string of harsh coughs. In the end all she can do is turn towards his hand - it's so warm - and try to catch her breath]

[HERE COMES RENA AGAIN sorry to spoil the moment.]

Nebilim-sensei should be here soon.

[He looks up when Rena comes in. That cough really doesn't sound good. Reluctantly, he stands up from the bed.]

Thank you. Can you watch her for a moment? I'm going to make her some tea.

[she doesn't want to let go of anyone's hand giving her warmth, and that includes Peony, but he's way too strong for her right now. Nephry opens her eyes, hearing Rena's voice again]

[He squeezes her hand gently before letting go. He attempts a smile.]

I'll be back in a minute.

[And Rena sits down obediently beside Nephry, putting her own hand on top of hers.]

[she's trying to focus on Rena. It's hard, especially since she's shivering despite all the blankets and being in dry clothes. Her glasses might be out there in the snow somewhere, or the Malnosso may have decided she wasn't getting them back today. She tries to turn her hand over in order to hold onto Rena's, but doesn't have that kind of control]

[Peony returns in a few minutes, carrying a tray with a pot of tea on it. There are three cups, and he pours the tea into one. He walks with it towards the bed. Nephry looks too weak to drink it on her own, so he gently holds the cup to her mouth so she can take a sip.]

[hopefully it isn't too hot, because she has basically no control of anything. She's able to swallow some of the tea, but if he tries to get her to drink too much she'll start choking on it]

[Rena watches the exchanges worriedly, ready to jump up and try to do...something...if Nephry starts to choke.]

[Don't worry, he tilts the cup back almost right away. It was obvious that there was something else wrong with Nephry aside from spending too long in the cold. He'd ask her, but he knows she's unable to answer right now.]

[enough tea will help warm her up. She forces herself to focus on Peony, as he's now the closest, and try to talk to him]

... [it's not really working, though...] ...c-cold.

[Rena looks toward Peony, a worried expression on her face.]

Should Rena get some more blankets?
