[The Malnosso have decided to leave Nephry off in the forest northwest of House 1. The chances of anyone finding her there are slim, you see, unless they're out on patrol or know to be looking. And it's cold, and snowy - quite snowy - and she's been drugged beyond real coherence. The journal, though, is close enough to her for her to touch, and open. Anyone listening will here a few sharp coughs followed by what she must think is an understandable sentence. Except it's not.]

[Rena watches the exchanges worriedly, ready to jump up and try to do...something...if Nephry starts to choke.]

[Don't worry, he tilts the cup back almost right away. It was obvious that there was something else wrong with Nephry aside from spending too long in the cold. He'd ask her, but he knows she's unable to answer right now.]

[enough tea will help warm her up. She forces herself to focus on Peony, as he's now the closest, and try to talk to him]

... [it's not really working, though...] ...c-cold.

[Rena looks toward Peony, a worried expression on her face.]

Should Rena get some more blankets?

[His gaze lingers at Nephry's still-shivering form before turning to Rena.]

...Yes, please.

[someday she's going to realize this is all very unprofessional. But for now it's just hard to warm herself up, even under a pile of blankets, when her body didn't have much heat in it to start with. Peony might be able to help her at least calm down a little by talking to her]

[Off she goes to search for some then.]

[Peony watches Rena leave the room before sitting at the edge of Nephry's bed. He takes her hand again.]

How are you doing?

[she can move her hand much more easily now. Her fingers tighten around his, and she shuts her eyes. The message might be hard to read: she's warmer, but still feels pretty awful. And she knows if she tried to talk it would do her no good]

[Barring crawling into bed beside her, all he can do is hold the cup of tea to her lips again in an attempt to make her warmer.]

[she drinks more of it this time, with a few coughs after Peony takes the cup away. Suddenly and inexplicably she finds herself wanting to sit up, but all she can manage is to restlessly try to move. It's just not happening]

[He rests a hand on her shoulder.]

Don't. You need your rest.

I...

[now you be quiet and give her the chance to finish her sentence, Peony. It could take a bit]

I...I-I'll...be a-all...all right.

[Can he hug you.:(]

Of course you're going to be all right. But it'll take longer if you overexert yourself.

[she would probably appreciate a hug. He's warm. And it would just plain be more comforting. She hasn't let go of his hand, which she now squeezes gently, an apology]

[He'll gently pull her up, embracing her. It should be an awkward position, but it isn't. He whispers in her ear.]

Warm enough now?

[she can't help but let her head fall against his shoulder. After all, she can hardly even sit up on her own. But it's much warmer, and somehow safer, so for now it's all okay]

[His thumb slowly traces circles on her back.]

Maybe you should get some sleep.

[HI GUYS did she come in at a bad time? Rena hugs the blankets to her chest and coughs delicately at the doorway, feeling a bit out-of-place]

[OH HAI RENA. Peony unfortunately has to let go of Nephry (slowly, of course :/) so he can look at Rena properly.]

Ah, you found the blankets.

[it should be obvious that he was only doing that to warm her up, of course. She's hardly shivering anymore. The unfortunate part of that is that feeling has come back to her hands and feet and such, and it sort of hurts]

Yes I found them! Rena is really good at finding things!

[And she'll offer the blankets to Peony. They seem fairly close anyway.]

[He takes the blankets with a grateful smile and starts wrapping them around Nephry. Now that the situation has calmed down-]

Your name is Rena?

And since the situation is calmer, she'll be a bit more cheerful.]

That's right! Rena is my name!

Um...can I ask what yours is?
