[the weather has been mild for a few days now, giving the ground a chance to dry up. This morning, Nephry thought this seemed like the perfect day to spend outdoors - it's not too warm yet in this village, and she has no real obligations here - and she even packed a picnic lunch to that effect. However, anyone who sees her headed off to enjoy that lunch will probably catch her in the act of a stumble or two, or even a shaky move to the nearest bench or equivalent place to just sit down.]

[After a few hours, Peony returns from his walk. Noticing that Nephry's bedroom door is open, he takes a peek inside and finds her asleep. He tries to be quiet as he slips into the room, but he isn't a ninja and probably makes some noise.]

[she doesn't seem all that coherent as she wakes up, and she doesn't look too great either]

Y-Your Majesty? ...What are you...?

I was just checking up on you. [He looks a little guilty.] I didn't mean to wake you up.

Why...? [why do you feel the need to check up on her?]

[Because he is Peony and is always concerned about her.] I just wanted to.

[...that's only a little bit stalker-like, Peony. But right now she's too achy and tired to care. She didn't even sit up to talk to him]

[He isn't a stalker.:c But usually she would admonish him for being too concerned, and her lack of response pings him.] ...Are you all right?

[sigh. There's no point in not telling him]

No. I'm ill.

[He rushes over to her side. He wanted to ask a lot of questions, but for now, he'll settle on one.] Do you need anything?

Yes. Sleep.

[Taking the hint-] ...I suppose I should leave you alone.

[...even now she feels bad for getting short with him]

I'm sorry. ...Some water would be...a-a good idea.

[He nods.] One glass of water coming right up.

[He comes back with said glass a few minutes later and brings it to her side.]

[And when she's done he places it on the bedside table.] You weren't sick earlier.

I felt...strange, but not like this. It happened quickly.

[Frown. She did go out for lunch.] Do you think it was something you ate?

[turns an entirely different shade of pale at the mention of food]

I didn't...eat anything.

[The frown grows deeper, and he places a hand on her forehead.] You're burning up.
