[At last. Peaceful, mostly sunny. No sign of the moon, or masks, or costumes.

...And Nephry is moving through the plaza at the pace and with the general stiff gait of an old woman.

Fitting, she thinks.

Near the fountain she sits on a bench, opening the journal on her lap. She's never been one to make announcements too personal, or to call unnecessary attention to herself. A chill breeze lifts a few pages of the book, though, and she smiles, writing.]

Winter is coming. [a pause, and then] It's still strange to me, sometimes. Even after living here for a couple of years...I still expect the cold and snow to be a more permanent visitor.

Do you enjoy the snow? Or do you prefer warmer climates?

[Indeed. Normally, Jade would think of a few completely logical reasons for why it may be taking her longer than usual. Perhaps someone stopped her to chat, or she'd had to pick up something she intended to discuss with him.

Still, Nephry wasn't really the type to arrive late to appointments without good reason, casual or otherwise. So the amount of time it takes her has Jade glancing up from the tomb he's reading with more frequency than is natural for him. Not that it was any amount of time to be concerned over, a few minutes longer if anything. Not a significant chunk of time. Perhaps he was just feeling rather impatient today.]

[action] Tome. Tome.... OR THERE ARE DEAD PEOPLE IN THE LIBRARY. I can totally spell.

Of course. Have a seat. [He'll even rise to pull out a chair for her. Look what a gentleman your brother has become. Just mind that you don't trip on the gravestones and corpses and such.

Jade eyes her carefully. The stiff way she's walking does have him suspicious, but it may just become a battle of wills if she's not going to speak of it. He will ask eventually, of course, but he'd prefer she breach the topic first.]
You had something to discuss with me?

[action] Not so much here, sadly.

Oh my. What sort of trouble has he gotten himself into this time? [Don't tell him this has something to do with your limp, Nephry? Jade remains standing, flipping through one of the books laid out in front of them. It seemed to contain something on toxins. Lovely.]

[... Whoops?]

Hyperresonance can break down matter to an atomic level. To put it in perspective, the artificial hyperresonace that destroyed Hod was only forty percent of the strength of a true hyperresonance. If you set off a full-strength hyperresonance, not even dust would remain.

Although Luke is unable to control a hyperresonance of that scale, attempting to destroy the moon placed a great personal risk upon him and those nearby.

A person, several people, the entire village. Real hyperresonance would even annihilate the atmosphere.

You don't mean to tell me that you were close by? [Jade is Not Pleased, Nephry.]

.... Foolish or not, it would be a lie to say that many of us would not have tried to do the same. [Almost all of them would have tried to stop him if they had known. Even including Jade himself.]

That being said, you should now be aware that hyperresonance takes Luke a great deal of concentration to sustain. His abilities are unstable at the best of times. If you should ever find yourself involved again, I would prefer it if you kept your distance. [That last sentence is said a bit too stiffly, the words coming out short and snappy. He is not thrilled with the idea that Nephry could have been disintegrated mere hours before.]

How badly were you injured?

... Pain without cause? [Jade takes a moment to adjust his glasses, contemplating just what that would mean for her physically. She must not have been hit directly, if she was able to be here speaking with him today, but without knowing exactly what had went on between the two of them, it was hard to venture a guess.]

Perhaps you should go over the incident for me, with as much detail as you can remember.

[action] Feel free to correct me on this, because I'm not sure...

[identity profile] subethical.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
... Interesting. [Although, interesting as it may have been, it left Jade a bit lost for an explanation. He hadn't come across many injuries of this sort, if at all that he could recall.]

It could be a number of things. The best case scenerio would be a simple fonon imbalance. If it's something as simple as that, it should correct itself in time. However...

Have you seen anyone else about this?

[action] He wouldn't dream of it!

[identity profile] subethical.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Raine? The one who provided the guide for the newcomers here?

[identity profile] subethical.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. I believe I remember that being mentioned before... [Jade is watching his sister closely. If her condition showed any sign of deteriorating, it would have to be dealt with. Quickly.]

She seems like an influential resident here. Are the two of you close friends?

Well, I am glad to here that her artes worked well enough on an injury like this. In fact, I've been curious as to how different abilities worked on the residents here, considering the physiological differences.
