[weekends are as good a time as any for a not-quite jailbreak, are they not? But it isn't in Nephry's character or best interests to leave the clinic without permission...so she must have it. After all, she's almost halfway back to her own room, walking slowly and a little haltingly, but without stumbling. And she looks very determined, if  a little pale and tired.]

[Gelda walks ahead to hold the door open for her. If necessary, she'll help Nephry up the stairs too. If all's well, though, she should be able to make it on her own.]

[Aw, you're too kind. Still, Gelda will wait with making herself comfortable until Nephry has given her permission. Instead, she glances around to have a good look at the place.]

No, it's fine.

[What kind of healer would she be if she let a recovering woman slave away in the kitchen, after all?]

[Gelda will wait patiently. This is the first real conversation she'll have with Nephry ever since the incident, so it's understandable her old student might feel uncomfortable.]

[Wow, that was unexpected.]

... Her memories? I'm not sure I follow.

The original?

[Even after almost a year of living in Luceti, she still doesn't know about Jade's role in the 'magnificent' world of Fomicry. It's sad, really.]

[Well, not all of it. She knows she died, so that part of the puzzle is already present.]

That's... because I am that person, of course. The Malnosso were kind enough to revive me, if only for the sake of being a guinea pig here.

[At the word "replica", her expression darkens a little. That sounds horribly foreboding.]

Exactly which replica are you referring to?

... The same method he used on your doll?

[Jade, what the hell did you do? Tampering with nature like that! Really, now. No wonder they call him the Necromancer.]

[She sighs, raising a hand to her head.]

That is... a lot to take in.

But... Why? I would've hoped I'd taught him better than that. Did he still not comprehend what it means to die?

... I knew catastrophe would strike that day. My birthday Score had predicted as much. I was prepared to accept whatever would happen. One cannot escape a fate that's been written in the planet's memory, after all.

[She leans back in her chair, taking a deep breath.]

Yet... It was foolish. I never considered what might happen after that day. If I had, I would've made better preparations.
