[It was almost a relief, to hear about so many people going home recently, even as more were due to arrive.
It was too sad to mention, knowing that one of those people was Professor Nebilim. That she wasn't really returning to anything. Just to the completion of a sad tale of a boy who thought he should be able to do everything.
And now Nephry is lonely. She has been, off and on, for a while; she feels it especially strongly today. At first she tried cleaning the kitchen but now she's sitting there, chin against her hands, staring at the table. With almost half of the house away or out of commission...things are quiet.
In the silence, she turns to her journal for a while.]
What do you believe happens...when you die?

action;
I don't know if I feel up to it, Your- ...Peony.
[It will be so much worse learning to remember that than it was with Ion.
But he should press her, just a little. It's obvious she wants to.]
action;
[ he's just gonna snag her arm and pull her around the table whether she likes it or not, one arm behind her back to guide her out of the kitchen. ]
Go on, get ready. We're leaving in five minutes.
action;
It's hard to argue with him when he makes up his mind like this.]
May I at least know where we're going?
action;
Good question. We'll figure it out when we get there.
action;
She goes into her room for a few minutes, trying not to look so sad. There's no helping how she feels. When she comes back out, she's at least looking at him and not the ground.]
I'm ready, I suppose.
action;
peony is ready even faster; it takes all of three seconds for him to step into his sandals. once she's ready he opens the door for her like a perfect gentleman. ]
Ladies first.
action;
Thank you. [She goes out before him, but as he's the man with the plan, he'll have to lead the way.]
action;
No problem.
action;
Today she is too sad and tired to care. So she takes it.]
action;
So. I'm assuming there's places to eat in the plaza, right? You've been here awhile, anywhere you like particularly or should I just close my eyes and pick one?
action;
action;
[ heh. ]
action;
[Awkwardness or not, she can't deny she likes spending time with him no matter what they're doing. It's the lack of denial that is a bit awkward, even.]
action;
and peony hates it. they shouldn't be awkward, he's known her almost his entire life. they were so close once, such good friends, and- well.
bridging this strange gap between them is pretty much his top priority here. ]
Well it's a good walk, maybe you'll work up an appetite along the way.
action;
A good walk in good company. ...Thank you.
action;
Heh .. any time. I'm always around if you need anything, you know. Anything at all.
action;
...And there are some that I never expected to leave.
action;
[ he does. it's something he thinks about relatively regularly, actually; for all of his bright smiles, peony does a lot of thinking. but she knows that. she knows him better than almost anyone. ]
I'm not surprised you'd be so, you know, hesitant.
action;
action;
[ sideglance. ]
I'm sorry that had to happen.
action;
...Besides, what good will it do me to think about it now?
