[It was almost a relief, to hear about so many people going home recently, even as more were due to arrive.

It was too sad to mention, knowing that one of those people was Professor Nebilim. That she wasn't really returning to anything. Just to the completion of a sad tale of a boy who thought he should be able to do everything.

And now Nephry is lonely. She has been, off and on, for a while; she feels it especially strongly today. At first she tried cleaning the kitchen but now she's sitting there, chin against her hands, staring at the table. With almost half of the house away or out of commission...things are quiet.

In the silence, she turns to her journal for a while.]

What do you believe happens...when you die?

I. [ A pause. Did death here count? Helios isn't sure but he's not certain if he should say. ]

Not I would be fascinated to see it. I've met beings from such believed afterlifes. But they, ah, never really told me what it's like. [ Helios' tone sounds impossibly sad. ]

I wonder sometimes about this world's. I never really...saw anything however. [ He didn't even remember much to be honest. ] It might be different for everyone though, as most experiences are.

Oh. ...Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know.

But this world is already different. I'm not entirely sure if it...counts, for that.

It's, it's quite alright. You had n-no knowledge of knowing. [ It's almost been a year since it's happened too. It doesn't feel like though, not at all. ]

It's always been a stray thought, the after life of this place. There are spirits that inhabit this place after all.

Those spirits strike me as different from ghosts, though.

Different? They are a bit. Spirits and ghosts are the same thing, usually. Elemental spirits aren't uncommon in my world or others from what I can tell.

I was under the impression that ghosts, at least the ones in stories, were the spirits of departed human souls. Not the elemental spirits we have here.

Mm you're correct in those regards. Ghosts and spirits are very much the same in my world though. Ah, well, people use the terms on and off from each other. If only in the fact that they are both entities that live outside the normal plane of existence.

So you believe in the ghosts of departed people?

[With no indication about whether she does or does not.]

Oh yes. I, ah, have a few ghosts in my castle who are students. They're quite nice too actually. A bit of pranksters but, well, you can't really blame them for that. [ And then a pause. ]

Do you?

Ghost students? [It's official, your world is strange. ...Auldrant is too, however.]

I'm really not sure, anymore. It seems to happen in some places and not in others.
