[At last. Peaceful, mostly sunny. No sign of the moon, or masks, or costumes.

...And Nephry is moving through the plaza at the pace and with the general stiff gait of an old woman.

Fitting, she thinks.

Near the fountain she sits on a bench, opening the journal on her lap. She's never been one to make announcements too personal, or to call unnecessary attention to herself. A chill breeze lifts a few pages of the book, though, and she smiles, writing.]

Winter is coming. [a pause, and then] It's still strange to me, sometimes. Even after living here for a couple of years...I still expect the cold and snow to be a more permanent visitor.

Do you enjoy the snow? Or do you prefer warmer climates?

Oh, good afternoon, Raine. How are you?

[And yet, the last time they really talked, Nephry was in a similar physical state to what she is now. Interesting.]

Well enough, I suppose, in spite of all the circumstances. [She shakes her head a little.] What about yourself?

"Well enough" is a good answer for me, too.

[Considering she was thrown across a roof by hyperresonance. Well enough.]

... I see. [Part of her wonders if she's using the phrase in the same way that Raine uses it, but she doesn't pry.] Are you looking forward to the cooler weather?

For the most part, yes. [She had a run-in with unbearable heat and dehydration this summer. Colder weather sounds just wonderful.] I don't look forward to blizzard conditions, should they arise. ...But this is refreshing, isn't it?

Anything is better than last weeks conditions. It's very calm today, though... the quiet stillness of a lingering fall.

Please, don't feel you need to just stand there. [sit with her if you want] Unless you would like to accompany me to the bakery?

Were you already planning on heading there? [Because she wouldn't mind sitting, either.] I don't mind, either way.

Yes, I was. I planned to bring something home with me.

It might be a warmer location anyway. I don't mind the walk.

[Nephry sort of does. But there's nothing for it other than to stand - slowly, carefully - and smile at Raine no matter what else she happens to feel.]

All right. Maybe I'll pick something up, myself. [She notices, though, that Nephry does seem a bit stiff with her movements. She knows from experience that there was soreness involved from the moon episode, so she wonders if it's a lingering side effect of that.]

[That is exactly what she will claim if anyone who doesn't already know happens to ask. No sense in exposing her foolishness to everyone, is there? And she did spend yesterday in bed.]

I feel like there hasn't been much to celebrate, so...I thought we might today.

[this is such a slow walk. Forgive her, Raine.]

[She won't call her out on it just yet, but she'll slow her pace enough to keep steady with her.]

'We'? Do you mean your household?

Yes. You are, of course, welcome to join us.

I wouldn't want to intrude if it's a private celebration, but I'll keep the invitation in mind.

It isn't. After everything that just happened...well, a "happy ending," so to speak, is something for everyone, isn't it?

It'll be a different change of pace, I suppose.

[Although speaking of pace.] Are you certain you're feeling up to walking this much?

Hmm. [Which was sort of a yes type noise.] I stop whenever I feel too tired.

Is there anything I can do to make it easier?

I am honestly not sure. Did you wake up stiff, as well?

Yes, but it's been better today. I could always try to use some magic and see if that eases anything for you.
