[Enjoying your hot day, Luceti?
Nephry isn't. Nephry isn't enjoying much of anything really. They've left her just a few feet away from the fountain this afternoon. She's barely even conscious, let alone coherent enough to try alerting someone that she's back. And really, she's not doing well in the heat.
At least, in such a well-traveled place, it probably won't be too long before someone finds her.]

[To do something like this on one of the hottest days so far this summer... it was cruel.]
Dist. We should hurry and bring her to the clinic.
no subject
Meaning he had to carry her that distance in the heat. ...Lovely.]
Yes. Could you carry the water, Fon Master? My hands are going to be rather full.
[It's not meant to be sarcastic, just honest. Dist repositions Nephry, and stands with her in his arms. She wasn't too heavy, but he knew the distance and heat would take its toll on him as well as her. Plus, if Ion wanted to tag along...and his own frailty...ugh. This was quite a mess.]
no subject
Hopefully she won't have to find out.]
no subject
[Dist didn't even have to ask, Ion already reaching out to grab the bottle. He shoots another glance at Nephry... she had already seemed to be rather out of it, perhaps a bit more so now. They had to hurry.]

Finally, after what felt like so long, Dist arrives at the battledome with Nephry in tow and Ion at his heels. He's exhausted, but wastes no time in getting Nephry situated and stable. The staff do their job, thankfully, but he can't help but hover close to his friend's side as much as possible, until he's turned away so she could be treated properly.]
no subject
[Only once Nephry is in the safe hands of the staff working in the clinic does Ion give a soft sigh of relief. He certainly wasn't done worrying, that would likely continue until well after Nephry was safe at home, but it was enough for him to shift some concern over to Dist.]
You should be sitting down. You must be exhausted...
no subject
Dist leers at Ion over his shoulder, then crosses his arms over his chest and says, evenly.]
I'm fine. You needn't worry about me, Fon Master.

So when the boys of house one finally do hear something, it's that she's stable enough, for now. And improving, albeit slowly. They have the option of remaining here or going home and returning in a few hours to check up on her. It should be obvious which one the staff would prefer - they don't expect her to wake up for several hours and will tell Dist and Ion as much - but these two will be allowed to stay as visitors if the rowdy one promises not to cause a disturbance.]
no subject
[Likewise, regardless of what the staff would prefer, Ion and Dist aren't going anywhere. Waking up in the clinic to find yourself on your own was far from pleasant, and Ion didn't want to put Nephry through something like that. So they opted to wait.]
[But a few hours is a long time to just be sitting, and neither of them were likely in the mood for much conversation. It isn't long before Ion starts dozing off a little... and when Dist sits beside him, he makes good use of his arm and leans against him, not taking at all into consideration how Dist might feel about the contact.]
no subject
Regardless, he eventually stopped pacing and took a seat next to Ion, waiting for Nephry to wake up. It was indeed dull, and he often took to staring at the ceiling for a while, amusing himself with ideas for new inventions and how he'd make them. A devious smirk eventually spread on his face when one thought for a potentially fatal weapon passed through his mind and--
...And that was when Ion's head dropped onto his arm. Dist jerked to attention and stared down at the boy. His muscles were tense and he made a quiet noise of discomfort, but that was it. He wanted to shake the boy off, but...couldn't. He couldn't find it in himself to jerk away from Ion, so he just fumed quietly and turned his head away from the boy, cheeks tinted red.
This just became far more troublesome than before.]

Assuming, of course, that they do get up and head into her room, Nephry looks a great deal more peaceful now than she did out in the sun by the fountain. Her heart rate has slowed (there are monitors to prove this) to something more reasonable, and hydration is still taking the express route into her right arm, with evidence of a second line that recently disappeared. And she's cool enough that her lower half is covered by a light sheet. So it must be okay.
Though, her eyes are closed still. But she doesn't have that look of struggling anymore.]
no subject
[His face falls when he sees her. Even though she looked so much better than she had hours earlier, the fact that she had to be here in the clinic at all... it was unforgivable.] Nephry...
no subject
He didn't want to even think of what experiments they put her through when she was gone.
Dist doesn't approach her just yet, allowing Ion to have a moment first and foremost. His glasses glint in the light, however, masking his eyes and his expression.]
no subject
There's a soft inhale when Ion says her name, and she opens her eyes slowly. It may be tired, but that is a definite smile on her face when she identifies her visitors.]
Ion. Saphir. [a breath] Come in. [the doorway is for doors, not friends]
no subject
[He stands at her side, setting a hand gently on her shoulder.] I hope we didn't wake you... how are you feeling?
no subject
...It's good to see that you're well, Nephry.
no subject
[even though she's probably going to be here for a couple more days. And Dist, you don't get away with that. She's motioning you closer.]
no subject
Can we get you anything? Perhaps something to drink?
[Seeing as she came in so dehydrated, chances were she would have some kind of cup of water around if she were able to drink on her own.]
no subject
But he'll do his best not to show how fatigued he is, and nod to Ion's words. She really should drink something.]
You should drink something, Nephry. Now that you're able, even a simple glass should suffice. [And if she was able to do that much, he'd suggest the staff remove the IV from her arm. It'd be unnecessary.]
no subject
[Ion's hand gets a gentle squeeze, and Dist gets a look of concern. Tell her he hasn't worried himself into an illness.] How long have the two of you been...when did you find me?
no subject
Not too long ago. [Just a few hours that felt like a few years. But there was no reason to trouble Nephry with that right now.] If you want more water, just let me know.
no subject
Instead, he pushes up his glasses and clears his voice.]
I'm glad you returned when you did, Nephry.
[And not during the mayhem that occurred a few days ago.]
no subject
After several sips of water, her voice seems stronger, too.]
When I did? ...What happened? [and, with another sharp look at both of them] Please sit. [That's what the chairs are for.]
no subject
[He sits down as instructed, his hands resting on his knees.]
There was an incident in the village last week. One of the residents set out to attack the other villagers... I don't know much about what really happened, but a few buildings in the plaza were damaged and the clinic was destroyed.
[His eyes fall.] Luke was one of the ones attacked, but he was doing all right the last time I saw him. Although... the Malnosso kidnapped him not long after that.
[

But Dist does lift a brow in Ion's direction at the mention of the Luke replica. Hm...so he was injured and kidnapped soon after? That must be why the boy seemed so crestfallen lately.]
What the Fon Master said is the truth. Other have outlined the damage and casualties with greater detail - which you'll find in your journal - but the gist of it was a resident was returned in a chaotic mental state, thus saw all those who came across her as a threat in need of extermination. She had a substantial level of strength...but she was exterminated, and from what I hear the threat of another attack is unlikely.
[Though he still doesn't trust that one hundred percent.]
