[Waking up each day to find that the people forming the foundations of your past have gone absolutely insane is a little unnerving. Not that Nephry would ever let it show. And they seem themselves enough, most of the time. Guy's a little too grumpy and Anise is too old, but otherwise the problems are mostly memory-based. Memory is a tenuous thing at best, anyway, isn't it?
That is a very long and meandering way of saying Nephry is a little stressed. So she's gone outside the village limits to practice her artes. For whatever reason, the spirits she remembers contacting all refuse to speak to her now, restricting her to all the skills she picked up back home. The journal, open nearby, will pick up soft incantations and spell names, and of course the sounds of artes destroying a well-chosen clearing.]
