Well, what do you say we go see if we can find you some warmer clothes? It's way too cold to be out like that.

I can't find my coat Miss Katara. It's not here.

Why don't we go look in the village clothing store? It's like a lost-and-found sometimes. If not, we'll see what we can find that will fit, all right?

That sounds like a good idea.

In the meantime... [Katara takes off her jacket and drapes it around the girl's shoulders. It probably trails the ground like a cloak.] That should help a little.

[And she starts leading the way to the clothing store. Fortunately, it's not far away.]

[Nephry follows pretty closely. And stares openly at the bird wings growing from Katara's back]

You're welcome. [Arriving at the store, Katara opens the door.] Let's see if we can find you some socks first. Then we'll look for some clothes. And maybe there will be a coat for Miss Milly too.

Oh, she's not cold.

[if Katara gets near enough she'll see the bruises and swelling on Nephry's right upper arm]

[She probably will when Nephry takes off the coat that Katara loaned her, but for now she's busy looking in one of the central bins for socks and child-like things.]

That's good to hear. Do you see anything that you like?

No ma'am. I don't have any money.

[Katara comes and crouches down to be eye-level with Nephry.] There's a lot of things that are confusing and wrong about this village. But one thing that isn't: people here take care of each other. The clothes in this store are free, Nephry. So let's get you all dressed and warm, okay?

[Katara is so friendly. She's never had a female friend anywhere close to her own age - and Katara isn't either, but she's a lot closer than Nebilim is. So have a smile that comes far more easily than it ever will as an adult]

[And so, Katara leads Nephry over to the clothes and starts seeing if she can find anything that looks like it will fit in her size.]

[Nephry just watches. She hasn't been to a place for buying clothes before.]

[So Katara guestimates - long and regular underwear, a skirt, a dress, two shirts, and a coat. Yeah, shopping's really more her brother's thing.]

Why don't you go try these on. Make sure you pick out something warm and comfortable, okay?

There are changing rooms right over there. [Katara points.] Here, let me take the coat back and you can take these.

...I don't want to leave Miss Milly here alone.

You can take her in with you. There should be a little bench for her to sit on.

[and she will go back there with doll and clothes. When she comes out, her face is all red (and maybe her eyes are a little watery) but she's in a much better dress and warm stockings.]
